Whether at home or away, holidays are an opportunity to relax, restore and renew oneself and the ideal opportunity to dress in a breezy, fresh and carefree style. The trick to being stylish on holiday is to create an effortless look which is both chic and comfortable.

Holidays provide the perfect excuse to bring out the other elements of your style personality and to be more creative. Take inspiration from your holiday venue and seek out individual and unique items of clothing, bags, scarves or jewellery that you can’t find at home. If you are holidaying at home why not use some time to revitalise your wardrobe and put together outfits in different ways and in colour combinations you haven’t tried before. Take a look at my Summer Holiday Outfits board on Pinterest for colour and style ideas.

If your dominant colouring is deep, try turquoise, lime and scarlet to invigorate your wardrobe. Lights will look stylish in mint and cornflower blue. Clear colour palettes will look stunning in scarlet, true blue and lemon yellow. Softer colourings can combine verbena and jade for a fresh tonal look. Cools will look cool in rose pink and blue red tones. Warms – you are in your element right now as there are so many golden yellow, daffodil and amber shades to choose from.

The key pieces you need for easy summer time style:

Sunglasses
Check out my blog on how to choose the perfect pair of sunglasses. If you take into account your perfect colour palette, face shape and style personality you won’t go far wrong.

Summer dresses and jumpsuits
Make space in your case for floaty midi-length dresses with patterned prints and sleeves long or short. Choose a style that you’ll feel appropriate in dressed up for an evening as well as for sightseeing and shopping during the day and you’ll still look chic on warmer days. If dresses aren’t your thing, as a fresh alternative why not try a jumpsuit instead?

Separates
Choose separates in colours and styles that all go together. A floaty blouse worn with wide legged looser styled trousers or slim fit trousers with stretch are versatile pieces that you can mix and match.
When packing for holidays don’t think “What do I need to pack?” – think “What am I going to wear?” If you take a capsule wardrobe of pieces that all coordinate you will be able to travel light and still have the right outfit for any occasion.

Simplify your make-up
Simplify your make-up and travel light. Use Colour Me Beautiful Morning Light Foundation or tinted moisturiser. Cream blush in sunset glow for warmer skin tones or crushed berry for cooler complexions works as a blusher and a lipgloss. The eye pencil in teal will work for everybody and adds a simple touch of colour.

Sunhat and sunscreen
Don’t forget your sun hat and sunscreen – essential to keep you looking cool and stylish and protect you in the sun.
