It’s time to snuggle up and get cosy. In winter, a snuggly jumper or cardigan is a wardrobe essential that we depend on for warmth and style. An investment piece in your best neutral colour will be in your wardrobe for a long time and loved and worn for many years.
Seek out a style that will give you the most versatility in your wardrobe. A classic style will give you the most options and will work with casual or smart trousers and over a dress or with a dressier skirt.
For longevity in your wardrobe invest in a timeless style and quality fully-fashioned knitwear. An investment piece does not need to be in black or white to go with everything in your wardrobe. A quality piece in one of your best neutral colours will pay its way in your wardrobe and be more flattering with your natural colouring.
If your dominant colouring is Light, choose Cocoa or Soft White, Deep dominants can choose Pewter or Pine. If you have warmer colouring Oatmeal or Chocolate will suit you and for cooler colouring, choose Rose Beige or Dark Teal. Clears can wear Dark Navy, Black Brown or Charcoal. Soft dominants can wear Rose Brown or Spruce.
Consider the length of a jumper and where it falls on the body. Will a cropped style or a longer line suit your proportions best? Look at the neckline of a sweater. A polo neck is for you if you have a long neck. On a shorter neck, a V shaped neckline will be more flattering.
The texture of a knit can add interest. If a bulky knit does not suit you, try layering 2 lighter weight knits for warmth and a similar effect that is more flattering.
Look after your knitwear. Jumpers and cardigans are best stored flat as heavy knits will stretch when hung.
